Different styles of architecture in Canada

In this article, we would like to mention some architectural styles in Canada.

Gothic

There are some places that it represent this style such as some church, museum, universities and some other institutions. It flourished in Europe in medieval times.

Victorian

This style has some characteristics such as stained glass windows, heavy stone window, door lintels, ornate wood accents and bay window.


Château Style

According to Claude Jobin mentions that the main characteristics of the style are steeply pitched roofs, crestings, finials, tall chimneys, round towers, ornamentation, broken roof lines, facades with recessing and protruding planes.


English Cottage

According to Century 21 In-Studio Realty mention that this style is common in Ontario and the Trademarks include an asymmetrical design of crossed cables with cedar shingles. The windows are long and narrow and often have a diamond pattern and leaded glass.



Craftsman

According to HGTV mention that this style was popular in 1930. The style is symmetrical with a front porch under an extended main roof.
